St. Benedict Hall Entry Portico

This project was initiated as part of the larger Library Project at Benedictine College. The construction of the library created a new quad, but would have the rear of St. Benedict Hall face this new quad and the Library. To correct this a new entry to St. Benedict Hall was proposed that would both complete the quad as well as provide access through St. Benedict Hall to the library directly.

The design draws from the collegiate gothic of the building itself, as well as a large portico from another existing college building. The entry is built of limestone, reclaimed brick and granite to match the materials of the existing building. It is anticipated that this new entry may become a focus for future college events and rites of passage.
